Good To Know Guide: Putney - West

At Douglas & Gordon our Putney West Estate Agents understand the charm and hidden opportunities of the local areas they operate in. The sales and letting agents in the area work closely with our offices across central, west and south-west London to always ensure they achieve the best possible result.

Located just south of Putney Bridge in the borough of Wandsworth, West Putney enjoys an air of civilised gentility and a warm village atmosphere. Carry on reading to see what our estate agents love about the local area of SW15.

Your future neighbours. With its terraced Victorian and Edwardian houses, quiet tree-lined streets and transport links into central London, many residents are drawn to the area. Young professionals enjoy the bars, cafes and life on the River Thames, while families appreciate the local green spaces and good schools.

Eating, drinking and shopping. Putney High Street is a shopping haven; here you will find major grocery stores, high street retailers, and the Putney Exchange shopping centre. For a more local feel, we recommend Hudson’s Brasserie and Parson’s Nose Butchers of London (both on Lower Richmond Road) and local Italian restaurant Enoteca Turi (Putney High Street).

Putney Village. Within Putney Heath lies the exclusive Putney Village - a small community of Art Deco and Arts & Crafts mansions surrounded by beautiful heathland. We love the Sunday roasts, and amazing views, at the Telegraph Pub.

The great outdoors. West Putney is surrounded by lovely green spaces in virtually every direction. The nearest is Putney Lower Common, which forms part of the Wimbledon and Putney Commons and is home to the Grade II listed All Saints’ Church. Wandsworth Park in East Putney is also nearby.

London Rowing Club. Putney has a rich history of rowing. It is the site of the annual Oxford v Cambridge Boat Race, as well as the famous Thames Rowing Club. The club was founded in 1860 to promote rowing and still operates from its original home on the Putney Embankment.
