Good To Know Guide: Fulham
At Douglas & Gordon our Fulham Estate Agents understand the charm and hidden opportunities of the local areas they operate in. The sales and letting agents in Fulham work closely with our offices across central, west and south-west London to always ensure they achieve the best possible result.
Douglas & Gordon is seeing people choosing the late Victorian charm of SW6, over Kensington and Chelsea. Fulham properties offer more space and better value for money, which is just one of many reasons buyers are drawn to this popular London area. Carry on reading to see what our Fulham estate agents love about the local area.
Your future neighbours. Fulham is highly desirable for both families and young professionals due to its many green spaces, fantastic schools and nurseries, excellent stock of high-quality housing and direct transportation links into the West End and the City.
The ‘it’ neighbourhood. Fulham is divided into many desirable areas, with houses near Parsons Green being some of the most sought-after. The Peterborough Estate with its iconic Lion Houses is a popular alternative, while the tree-lined Alphabet Streets are equally desirable with many families choosing homes close to Bishops Park. Other in-demand areas include The Villes, Munster Village, Sands End and South Park (the latter two just off of Wandsworth Bridge Road).
Eating, drinking and shopping. Fulham’s best-known shopping destination is the New King's Road, which offers a wide variety of high-end boutiques, specialist food shops and restaurants. Fulham Road caters more for families with plenty of small cafes nearby to refuel the troops. For your high-street conveniences, head to North End Road & Fulham Broadway. Some of our favourite places include The Eel Brook on Eel Brook Common and Boma Green on New King’s Road. Don’t miss the decadent Scotch eggs at The Sands End Pub, or their sister pub The Brown Cow on Fulham Road.
Fulham Palace. Fulham Palace was owned by the Bishops of London for over 1300 years and was their country home from at least the 11th century. The spectacular grounds are open to the public, and are a popular destination for families and local residents.
Fulham culture. Fulham has a lot to offer residents of all ages. It is home to two football clubs: Chelsea FC and Fulham FC, along with the internationally renowned Hurlingham Club, which houses 42 acres of magnificent grounds along the Thames and offers a range of activities and events. During the annual Queen’s Club Championships in June, local tennis fans might even spot a famous international player strolling along Queen’s Club Gardens.
