Kids Company Christmas decoration project 2014

Kids who lack love, warmth and compassion feel it especially at Christmas. That’s why for the last four years we’ve raised tens of thousands of pounds and collected tonnes of food and hundreds of new toys for Kids Company. www.kidsco.org.uk

This year we’ve gone one step further to improve some of these kids’ actual living conditions by completely renovating their flats. Supervised by Kids Company more than 50 Douglas & Gordon employees and several generous contractors worked for two days in early December on three properties. Anyone, let alone children, would normally have considered them to be uninhabitable. These families refused to believe the works would happen, but they did, and thanks to Anthony Ward-Thomas removals, David Phillips and Milc furniture, Carpet Bureau and tools with expert manpower from Paterson Wood and Zest all was supplied and delivered and finished on time. We hope this will transform these children’s lives for ever giving them a Christmas they won’t forget and a sense of worth they can use to move forward in life.

Many thanks to those that gave money, to those who fund raised at D&G via Raffles, Auctions, Quiz nights etc and raised a further £21,000 for Kids Company. It has helped put us back in touch with why we do what we do for Charity.

To give a flavour of what one of the flats looked like before and to see the tenant’s face as his new property is revealed to him, have a look below.

Merry Christmas Everyone.
