The green open spaces of Clapham Common and the area’s convenient transport links make Clapham a wonderful place to live. Here are a few things we love about SW4.
Historic Clapham. Through the 18th and early 19th centuries, Clapham was favoured by the upper classes with many large houses and villas built around the common. Many of which were designed and built by Thomas Cubitt, who himself built a home just south of the common. Samuel Pepys the diarist, famously chose to call Clapham Common Northside home and today, properties in Abbeville Village and Clapham Old Town remain highly sought-after addresses.
The great outdoors. The leafy green open spaces of Clapham Common and nearby Wandsworth Common are ideal for nature lovers, dog walkers, active families and outdoor sports fans. Local amenities include; playgrounds, a bowling green, cafes, football pitches and tennis courts.
Your future neighbours. Large Victorian houses with generous gardens alongside a great choice of schools, brings many families to Clapham. Busy professionals appreciate the easy transport links to central London, the social vibe of the area and the excellent supply of purpose built Victorian, new build and conversion flats. The popular French school, Wix Primary School, also draws many French families to Clapham.
Abbeville Village: Known locally as "The Village", the bars and restaurants situated along Abbeville Road are always buzzing and offer a wide range of cuisine. There is an annual village fete and the area boasts a fantastic selection of independent boutiques, a delicatessen, award winning butcher, gift and toy shop and hairdressers.
