Notting Hill

Good To Know Guide: Notting Hill

At Douglas & Gordon our Notting Hill Estate Agents understand the charm and hidden opportunities of the local areas they operate in. The sales and letting agents in Notting Hill work closely with our offices across central, west and south-west London to always ensure they achieve the best possible result.

Notting Hill, a more laid-back alternative to neighbouring Kensington and Chelsea, appeals to a wide range of residents. The broader area of Notting Hill and North Kensington spans the W10, W11 and W2 postcodes, and many of the lucky residents benefit from the parking permit that covers the whole of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Carry on reading to see what our Notting Hill estate agents love about the local area and what sets this vibrant part of London apart from the rest.

The great outdoors. Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens are all nearby offering over 300 acres of green space for the public to enjoy. In contrast, just off Ladbroke Grove you’ll find the Grade II listed Ladbroke Square Gardens, one of London’s largest private garden squares (open to local residents only).

Eating, drinking and shopping. Notting Hill is a shopper’s haven with designer boutiques, luxury flagship brands and an abundance of delicious delis in and around Westbourne Grove and Ledbury Road. Some of our favourites are Daylesford Organic (grocer), The Ledbury (restaurant) and Beach Blanket Babylon (bar).

Portobello Road. The street made famous by the film “Notting Hill”, Portobello Road is known world-wide for its many antique shops, boutiques, restaurants and cafes. On Saturdays the whole street comes to life as one of London’s most popular street markets - offering everything from fruit and vegetables, to rare art prints and vinyl records.

Your future neighbours. “The Hill” is home to many of the country’s movers and shakers - including many famous actors, sportsmen, politicians, writers, musicians and BBC employees. The area’s expat community, and young professionals, appreciate the easy access into the City. Families enjoy the spacious stucco fronted and villa style houses, as well as larger mansion apartments.

Notting Hill Carnival. Every August the streets around Notting Hill are filled with music, dancing, food and elaborate costumes as part of the famous Notting Hill Carnival. Since 1966, Notting Hill has hosted this two-day celebration of British West Indian culture and community spirit - and it is now the largest carnival in all of Europe.
