Hammersmith Area Guide
D&G’s Leading Hammersmith Estate Agents
Douglas & Gordon’s newest central London office can be found on Glenthorne Road in Hammersmith – formerly home to Royston estate agents. This agency covers Shepherd's Bush and Hammersmith property around the West London area; most properties are currently available in the Brackenbury Village district. Food lovers will feel right at home in Hammersmith, where they’ll find traditional butchers, delis and first-rate gastro-pubs. Our estate agents say that the weekend farmers’ market and excellent Thai restaurants on King Street are also popular local attractions.
Our Hammersmith estate agents will tell you that for many years now, Hammersmith property has been underrated, with property seekers preferring to buy in Holland Park and Fulham. Lately however, property for sale in Hammersmith has grown in popularity, with more buyers enjoying the benefits of the area’s excellent transport links. These include three Tube lines right across the capital, and easily accessible routes out of London.
The W6 district boasts significantly lower London property prices than neighbouring areas, which means our innovative estate agents can help growing families trade up and get better value for money with a larger house for sale in Hammersmith. Local sales manager Henriette Redgrave says that residents often trade up from areas like Holland Park and Notting Hill. They are “pleasantly surprised by the village atmosphere and quality of the property they find here” says Henriette. Ravenscourt Park is another popular Hammersmith attraction, with a teashop and rose garden, and young families will appreciate the good local schools closer to their Hammersmith properties.
When it comes to Hammersmith properties, prospective buyers are spoilt for choice; there is a variety of accommodation from charming two-bedroom cottages to larger Victorian homes on desirable streets like Wingate Road. Higher demand and lower supply has driven Hammersmith property prices up by 20%, but our leading Hammersmith estate agents are skilled at finding properties that offer buyers the best value for money. A one-bedroom flat for sale in Hammersmith will cost you £250,000-£350,000 and a two-bedroom Victorian cottage will go for £550,000-£700,000. A larger three-bedroom property for sale in Hammersmith will start at £700,000 and could go as high as £1.5 million for premium homes located on Wingate Road.
Renting Hammersmith Property
Our South West London estate agents say the W6 rental market shows similar buoyancy to the sales market. Property for rent in Hammersmith mostly includes two-bedroom cottages and larger Victorian houses. A cottage is suitable for professional couples and is available for £400-450 per week, while a house for rent in Hammersmith will cost £650-£1200 per week and makes the ideal property choice for a growing family.
Hammersmith boasts great transport links and is located a convenient 30-minute journey from Heathrow. The area is therefore popular among tenants from all walks of life. French families relocating to London often choose a flat for rent in Hammersmith to enjoy the benefits of the great local schools and the friendly village atmosphere. Additional attractions of renting Hammersmith property include local entertainment at venues like the Lyric Theatre or Ravenscourt Park.
