We Love Local: Northcote Road Antiques Market

Share

Tell us a little bit about Northcote Road Antiques market.

Open 7 days a week, our South London indoor market has many dealers offering a wide variety of antiques, vintage retro and collectables - silver, china, glass, mirrors, art deco, prints, pictures, furniture, painted and stripped pine, lighting, Victoriana, Clarice Cliff, Susie Cooper, flatware, tableware, jewelry and more.  The market started in 1986 and all the staff are dealers. Each day we have different dealers in the market. We get new items in most days so it's always worth another look inside. Plus we have a preview of our market on our website so you can explore before you visit.

What do you enjoy most about working there?

I love meeting people and being able to help with customer questions. I also love the great selection of stunning antiques we get in the store! There's always something new to learn with antiques. No matter how long you have been interested there will always be something new that turns up.

Most dealers have great sources which they have carefully built up over the years. Often items are sourced with our market in mind. We have a large number of local residents who visit us as well as a growing number of tourists who are always on the lookout for unique British mementos.

What would you to say to someone looking to buy an antique piece but not sure how to start?

We have a great guide to starting with antiques on our website. This was created by our dealers to help out with exactly this great question.

Have you had any particularly interesting or memorable pieces for sale?

We've a stunning range of Clarice Cliff and we have had some unique antique clocks and antique furniture which certainly has had the wow factor. We try to showcase items with our window display, though don't be fooled as our market is huge inside. When you walk in you'll notice we are over two floors.

At Douglas & Gordon, we love local. Why do you love Battersea?

We've long been a supporter of Battersea, the area is awash with great café's, restaurants and local young parents with children and pets often visit us. In fact, we are also very pet friendly - one of the few stores that encourage locals to bring their dogs inside.

Northcote Road Antiques market is teaming up with Douglas & Gordon to support all things local! For unique antique and vintage pieces, you can visit them at 155a Northcote Road, Battersea or take a virtual tour of their pieces at northcoteroadantiques.co.uk.
