Congratulations! You’ve made it to the end of the week, and now it’s time for a well-deserved break. Indeed, here at Douglas and Gordon we’ve made it even easier for you to enjoy your weekend, with our convenient area events guide for this Saturday and Sunday.

Northcote Road Summer Fete

We are one of the proud sponsors of the Northcote Road Summer Fete, which will be taking place this Sunday, 7th July. The event promises to be loads of fun, with a ping pong tournament, outside barbeque, Pimms lollies and an outdoor TV viewing area so that visitors can watch the Wimbledon final. There will also be a pop-up market, funfair rides, gourmet food stalls and a kids’ dance stage. A Fair Trade market, meanwhile, will be located on the northern end of the road. The fete will run from 11am to 5pm. Come along and support the locals, whilst enjoying good food and great company!

Balham Comedy Festival

Need a good laugh? Then pay a visit to the Balham Comedy Festival, beginning today. The 8 day festival, taking place at The Bedford, showcases some of the best comedy talent in the city. Performers include Lee Nelson, Milton Jones, Terry Alderton, Stephen K Amos, Mary Bourke, Marcus Brigstocke and Jo Caulfield, among others. Viewers will also get an opportunity to watch Edinburgh previews, in addition to line-ups for The Best of Banana Cabaret. Meanwhile, John Maloney and Adam Bloom will run an adults’ and children’s comedy workshop at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Don’t miss out on what looks to be a week of hilarity and undignified, belly-aching laughter.

Party Superstores

Saturday marks the grand re-opening of the Clapham Junction branch of Party Superstores, which was burnt down last year in the London riots. The store, which sells everything you could possibly require for a party celebration – costumes, balloons, accessories and décor items, to name but a few. 100% of Saturday’s proceeds will be donated to the HEAL Kids Foundation, a charity which provides healthcare, education, food and housing for disadvantaged children in Southeast Asia, mainly in Burma (Myanmar). Do embrace the party spirit and splurge to support a great cause!

Trinity St Mary's School

Trinity St Mary’s School, in conjunction with St Mary and St John The Divine church will be holding their Summer Fayre on 6th July. There will be food, toy, beer, plant and book stalls, as well as tombola stands, face-painting and a barbeque. The event will run from 2pm to 5pm, with an entrance fee of 50p.

Le QuecumBar

This 1930’s Parisien-style live music brasserie will be hosting the Pete Tiger Sheppard Ensemble this Saturday evening; a group specializing in Gypsy swing guitar and jazz. Entry is free before 8pm, and £5 thereafter. If you’re in the mood for some more jazz, then stick around for Sunday night’s Fiesta Flamenca - an exciting show featuring the singing and dancing of Anita La Maltesa, combined with the talented Seville guitar player, Ramon Ruiz. Guaranteed to lift your mood and lighten your spirits!
