Southfields - Total Gridlock

Douglas & Gordon’s 18th office has just opened in the increasingly popular area of Southfields. The branch, based at 24 Replingham Road, will cover both the Southfields and Earlsfield areas.

It was a well-considered decision to open here. Many people know Southfields as the closest underground station to the Wimbledon Tennis, but over a period of several years, a growing trend has become apparent; people are selling their flats in areas such as Battersea and Clapham and moving to Southfields and Earlsfield in an effort to find something significantly larger and better value for money. This branch is the missing piece of the jigsaw between the well-established offices in Battersea and Putney. With the network of offices throughout South West London linked via our sophisticated computer system, applicants and clients can be reassured that no stone is left unturned.

Southfields and Earlsfield are both located within the Borough of Wandsworth, where residents enjoy the lowest council tax in the country. Housing stock is primarily made up of Victorian and Edwardian terraces and purpose-built maisonettes, with the odd larger property being found on prime roads. Property prices in the area range from £250,000 right up to £1,500,000 for sales and from £1,000 to £3,500 per calendar month for lettings. The most popular area of Southfields is known as the “Grid”, which is made up of a series of terraced streets, but there are plenty of other sought-after areas, such as the “Pulborough Triangle”, which offer their own individual characteristics and charm. On the edge of the Grid, is a small village centred on Replingham Road, where one can find a range of boutique shops, cafes and restaurants. The schools in the area are also a huge pull for young families, with several primary schools having been rated good, very good or outstanding by OFSTED.

Since opening the office in early August, the initial response has been positive with most local residents being extremely supportive and friendly. Due to this, the office has had a flying start.

The branch deals with both residential sales and lettings. The sales side is managed by Maddie Miller, and the lettings by Alex Dowding, both of whom have moved from other Douglas & Gordon branches. Maddie has been an estate agent for 6 years and previously worked as a negotiator in D&G’s busy Battersea Park office where she was the top sales negotiator last year. She is enthusiastic, hard working and willing to go that extra mile to achieve the right result. Alex has moved from the Battersea Office to head up the lettings team. Before this, he was a successful negotiator for two years at Douglas & Gordon on Northcote Road, having previously worked for a lettings specialist covering the Battersea, Clapham, Balham and Earlsfield areas. Both Maddie and Alex are local Wandsworth Borough residents with Alex living in Earlsfield and Maddie in Wandsworth Town, so their talents couldn’t be better suited to the new branch.

Now not so pristine. Some people cannot wait for opening time.
