Property news for Clapham, Battersea and Balham | 30 Oct 2009
Plans to develop under-used land in the Nine Elms region of London have been outlined by the capital's mayor Boris Johnson.Mr Johnson believes that proposals to transform around 200 hectares of land into homes and green spaces could also create a number of jobs in the region.
The redevelopment programme is expected to cover areas between Battersea Power Station and Vauxhall.
Mr Johnson commented that the project will offer a number of improvements to central London in the years ahead.
He said: "The regeneration of Vauxhall and Nine Elms now is hugely significant in allowing us to support the economic growth of the whole of the capital."
Edward Lister, leader of Wandsworth Council , added that the Nine Elms site could provide the local area with many potential benefits in the future.
He believes that it is good to see the mayor is committed to the regeneration project.
